About
Established in 1902 in Kameoka, our workshop specializes in the processing and carving of stone for temple and shrine architecture and Japanese gardens. Over the decades, we have created stone lanterns, torii gates, and pagodas―works that serve as enduring symbols of both sacred spaces and local communities.
Rooted in the refined sensibility and aesthetic principles of Kyoto culture, we combine this heritage with rigorous craftsmanship to produce finely carved stone works. Using traditional chisels and mallets, much of our work is meticulously shaped by hand.
Building on the diverse techniques cultivated within Kyoto stone craftsmanship, we engage in cross-disciplinary collaborations with contemporary artists and designers. Through international workshops and technical guidance for garden artisans abroad, we contribute to the advancement and continuity of traditional stone culture.
